House Of Cards did it. Downton Abbey did it. And The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones do it nearly every episode. And now The Simpsons has following suit and killed off a character in the opening episode of its 26th season.
In an effort to revive the waning interest in the show, the showrunners of The Simpsons repeatedly teased that one of their recurring characters will be meeting their untimely demise in the Season 26 Season premiere, which they’ve dubbed the Yellow Wedding.
The only clue released was that the character was voiced by someone who has won an Emmy for their work on the show, which didn’t do a lot to narrow the characters for whom the bell might toll.

The episode was called Clown In The Dumps, which led people to speculate that it might be a wrap for Krusty the Clown, with Sideshow Bob as an outside contender.
Other characters reportedly in the firing line are Grandpa Simpsons, Comic Book Guy, and Moe, for whom death would probably be a blessed relief.
After all that, fans have been somewhat let down to learn that it was Krusty’s father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski, who passes away from natural causes.
It can’t be easy to keep coming up with new storylines when you’ve had 553 episodes, but after teasing this event for months, to lose a character who appeared in a grand total of nine out of 5553 episodes seems a little desperate.
