Elon Musk and Grimes name newborn ‘X Æ A-12’

There’s still uncertainty whether the name is a part of a long winded Elon Musk joke, or if it’s the actual name of his newborn son. It hasn’t stopped people from finding ways to laugh about the news.

Celebrities in recent years have come up with creative, and sometimes strange names to call their children. New parents Elon Musk and Grimes haven't disappointed, and recently announced that they've named their newborn son 'X Æ A-12'.

On Twitter, Grimes explained the meaning behind the unorthodox name of her son.

X is the "the unknown variable", Æ is her "elven spelling of Ai", A-12 is the "precursor to SR-17", the couple's favourite aircraft. A is for Archangel, Grimes' favourite song.

It’s still uncertain whether the name is an elaborate internet gag by the couple, or the real name of their newborn son. But it hasn’t stopped people figuring out how to pronounce the name that sounds more like a computer algorithm.

Some are speculating how Musk, a notable transhumanist, might communicate with his son when they are part robot.

After Musk’s emotional heart to heart, if baby X Æ A-12 needs to go to bed, his late night snoring might sound a little like this.

Others have suggested a double standard might be on the cards when it comes to the future pronunciation of Musk’s baby’s name.

But if X Æ A-12 was to get in trouble in school with a teacher, I don’t think anyone wants to imagine how he’d react to any kind of punishment.

And this Dragon Ball Z clip might be the best way of seeing how difficult a fight with this new-age child might go.

Despite only being a few days old, X Æ A-12 is now a part of a long cannon of weird names given by celebrity parents to their children.

It includes North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Apple, the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, Raddix, the daughter of Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, and last but not least Kulture, the son of Cardi B and Offset.
