From Australian Shepherds to French bulldogs, we've got the breakdown on every breed and where they sit, heel, play dead on election day 2016.

As some 23 million Australians take to schools, public halls and town meeting spots to cast their votes in the 2016 federal election, we at The Feed care about every presence at the polls ... especially the furry kind.

Doggos nationwide have loyally followed their owners and the wafting scent of democracy sausages to polling booths across the country.

Voters have been posting pictures of their beloved pets to the Facebook group Dog World as election day rolls on, with some canine companions more reluctant than others to insert themselves into Australia's political debate.

The big two themselves - Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten - understandably know the power an endorsement from man's best friend can bestow on Prime Ministerial hopefuls and have been working dogs into the election campaign via social media over the past few weeks.

While Malcolm and Lucy Turnbull's floofer JoJo has been simultaneously exhausted and aggressive through the months of lobbying, Bill Shorten's love of a solid English bulldog was unearthed on Twitter last month.

From democracy doggers to political puppers, only time will tell exactly who has been a good boy after all *pats*.
