Japan's underground bicycle storage system

Japan is a country that can be associated with extreme efficiency. The trains run on time, they have innovative ways to save space, and now a new way to store bicycles.

ECO Cycle is a unique underground bicycle storage system. Users drop off their bikes and they are deposited into a vault in around 13 seconds. Cyclists can then pick-up their rides with the swipe of an access card.

The idea helps save space at ground level allowing open areas to be used by the public or even retail shops.
