Grimes, aka total badass Canadian singer, songwriter, music producer and director, has taken a swipe at rampant sexism in the music industry.
Just don’t call her a victim.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Grimes was questioned about the ongoing Kesha/Dr Luke legal battle and responded with, “I don’t know enough about the specifics of that situation, because it seems very complicated. But I will say that I’ve been in numerous situations where male producers would literally be like, ‘We won’t finish the song unless you come back to my hotel room.’ If I was younger or in a more financially desperate situation, maybe I would have done that. I don’t think there are few female producers because women aren’t interested. It’s difficult for women to get in. It’s a pretty hostile environment.”

After the interview was released she vented online about the constant need to query her about the subject.
Whether you agree with Grimes' position on the matter or not, they're her own personal lived experiences that she can define however she likes. But it’s also abundantly clear that the music industry’s ongoing problem with sexism doesn't stop and end with Kesha, and other artists aren’t going to refrain from speaking out any time soon.
