With Man of Steel director Zack Snyder now behind the wheel of Ben Affleck’s donning of the cowl, Batman's A-to-B seems to be taking an even darker turn. Recently released stills show a machine gun attached to what looks like one of the more frightening interpretations of the much-loved Batmobile. And while Batman has always had an issue with expensive taste, this one comes with a particularly large price tag.
According to CNBC, the preferred vehicle of the US Army is an M1 Abrams tank, which will set you back a little over US $6 million. But of-course, Batman doesn't buy anything off the rack.
Ryan Friedlinghaus, host of car-centric TV series West Coast Customs and Pimp My Ride, says that a working version of the vehicle depicted in Snyder’s upcoming Batman Vs. Superman might cost about US $3 million. But as he told CNBC, that’s not going to get you far in the villain-ridden world of Gotham City.
"If a defense company was to make a vehicle like that, you've got to make it bulletproof, there are so many other pieces to it, then to make it look pretty and move around and drive, I mean, this thing has to go into war, I would say triple that."
Without munitions, Friedlinghaus estimates a real Batmobile might set you back about US $9 million. It’s a hefty price to pay for mobility, though this Batman does have an angry Superman to contend with.
Of-course, when it comes to convenience, Adam West and Burt Ward had it nailed. Robin didn’t even need to use the door.
This awesome musical tribute was created by viral sensation The Piano Guys. It includes three renditions of the Batmobile (not Batman Forever or Batman & Robin… because anyway) and visuals inspired by the look of the various films. Nerd bliss.
