If London Tube Lines were people

A viral video made by a all-girl comedy trio has depicted a spot on representation of London's public transport system.

London Tubes as People

The London Underground, or the ‘Tube’ as it’s affectionately known, is the famous public transport system that many Aussies have had to squeeze onto during European gap years or visiting family.

Eleven train lines make up the world’s very first underground railways, which are each distinguished with bright colours. The London Tube Map with its colourful swiggles outlines the routes from as far east as Leyton, home of Leyton Football Club, and as far west as Richmond, home of Virginia Woolf’s neurosis. The map and its train lines are so iconic they even have their own merchandise.

A London based and all female (cue Destiny’s Child’s Independent Women) comedy trio, Muriel Comedy, created a hilarious video depicting the London Tube Lines as people with distinctive characteristics. Set at an office party, the group of train lines all come together to celebrate the Metropolitan line’s new part-time position – a take on the Transport of London’s decision to close the service earlier than usual due to track maintenance.

Even for those who aren’t familiar with the infuriating slow pace of the District line or the abundance of tourist stops on the Piccadilly line, it’s easy to appreciate. The likenesses between a suave bigwig to the efficient and clean Jubilee line, or the punk attitude for London’s peak hour nightmare Northern Line is spot on.

The video on Muriel Comedy’s Facebook page has nearly 10K share and over 100K views and is set to continue its journey (pun intended) on being a viral hit.
