In her latest movie Otto plays an uptight poet having a lesbian love affair living in Brazil. It's called Reaching For The Moon.
Why don't we have more poets?
I don't know. Maybe music has taken the place of peotry. Maybe we're not romantic on that level, or maybe we don't have time... it almost feels like a dying art. There are still many poets, but not in the way there were then.
What was the hardest role for you to let go of?
Eowyn in Lord Of The Rings was hard to let go of because it was such an overwhelming thing, and I was on it for so long. I didn't want to let go of it.
Did you know you'd have the best one line of the entire trilogy?
Hogo Weaving said to be 'you have the best line'. I was like, 'oh, no pressure!' I knew it was a great line. I couldn't slee
You've recently come back from the US where you've been doing Rake. I've noticed a lot of high calibre actors like yourself doing televison; why is that?
It's nice to go to work in the same place and be with the same people and build relationships, but really it's about the writing. The writing in TV is so good at the moment, that kind of adult writing; it's harder to find in cinema at the moment. It's become about big blockbusters and special effects.
It's all about thirteen year old boys in the midwest of America.
We were told that when making LOTR; that its really important what the 13 year old boys in the midwest of America think. I was like "Really? Is it that important?"
You've done ytour faire share of blockbusters; you were in War Of The Worlds. Tom Cruise is a figure that looms large in popular culture; from your experience, what is the reality?
He is an incredibly charismatic person. His energy level is way above anyone I've ever met. He focuses everything in on you in that moment... it's very intense. He seems to be able to sustain it over a whole day.
