Let's hope somebody has explained what 'eggplant' means.

On an increasingly desperate mission to be relevant to the yoof of today, Paul McCartney has now tasked himself with the challenge of bringing life to one of the most concise expressions of our inner selves; the emoji.

In the lead-up to Valentine’s Day McCartney has partnered with Skype to produce a series of ‘songs’ to accompany 20 emojis to assist long-distance lovers to express the soul-shaking sentiment of kissy kissy lip tear hug rose.

McCartney has found the project a challenge, saying that “you suddenly realise you've got to compress a musical interpretation of an emotion into less than five seconds".

McCartney has been chasing a younger audience of late, partnering with Kanye West and Rihanna for “Four Five Seconds”, in which he declared himself to be steadily more inclined to ‘wilding’.
