1. Elle Magazine and The Australian
Sometimes it's hard to split a winner and in our quest to find the douchiest person of 2013 we were torn between two very hot contenders. Elle Magazine who decided that North Korean chic was in as a fashion trend and The Australian who published pay rates of the top ABC employees. Both are pretty douchy but who deserves the crown?
2. Federal election candidate Stephanie Bannister
2013's Australian Federal election was hottly contended and it was often hard to pick someone who had done something douchier than others. But One Nation candidate Stephanie Bannister stood out when she allegedly placed 'halal food funds terrorism' stickers on supermarket food and then stated in a television interview that Islam was a country. Sounds pretty douchey to me.
3. Nuttella's parent company Ferrero
Brands love to have superfans. They help drive conversation around products and push other people to buy them. Generally companies love to look after their superfans. Nut Ferrero, makers of Nuttella, really put their foot in it when they sent a cease and desist order to one of their biggest fans for creating 'World Nuttella Day' - a day where people buy Nuttella and eat it. After word got out on social media the company retracted it's cease and desist order.
4. Prime Minister Tony Abbott
It's often hard to look part politicans for doing douchy things - but shortly after becoming PM our new fearless leader Tony Abbott announced his new cabinet. The problem? There was only one woman who was good enough to make the pay grade. Talk about jobs for the boys.
5. Dallas Safari Club
Everyone knows that Rhino's are coming close to extinction because of the actions from poachers. But Dallas Safari Club - a U.S based hunting organisation made international headlines after they auction off a license to shoot rhinos in Africa. The club promoted the hunting as being good for the black rhino population.... but somehow we can't quite work the maths out on the one.
So there you have it. Those are our picks for the biggest douches of 2013 - but what do you think? Let us know on Twitter @TheFeedSBS2. Stay tuned for more douche of the week coming up when The Feed returns to SBS 2 on February 10th.
