The ride sharing app that's been a thorn in the side of the Australian taxi industry for nearly three and a half years launches an online food delivery service in Melbourne today.
Companies such as Menulog, Suppertime and Deliveroo have increasing in popularity since launching in Australia in 2014.
Called UberEATS, the service is accessed through an app and allows users to order meals from local restaurants for free.
UberEATS was first introduced last year in 10 select US cities, including New York, LA, and San Francisco, with much success.
The ride sharing UberX app, which only became a legal enterprise in NSW late last year, is technically still illegal in Victoria. However that has done little to slow down the app's exponential success in the state.
If UberEATS does well in Victoria, there's good chance the service will be made available in other states, too.
But as grateful as we all are for UberEATS, we'd be lying if we didn't secretly wish they make an IRL Cabbab a la Here Come the Habibs.
