The US Air Force have issued an official warning to almost a million people who have RSVP’d to a Facebook event titled “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us” which promotes storming Area 51 to “see them aliens”.
Air Force spokesperson Laura McAndrews issued a statement that firmly warned against the September 20th raid.
“[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces,” she said.
The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.
Ms McAndrews did not expand on exactly how the Air Force would protect the base from a potential 900,000+ internet nerds.
Event organisers, however, seem fairly confident that their sheer numbers would be enough to overwhelm the heavily protected base.
“If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets,” the event organiser has proposed.
‘Naruto run’ refers to the anime character Naruto Ozumaki’s distinctive running style: arms back and straight, chest forward.
The intrigue surrounding the Air Force base stems largely from the US government having denied its existence until 2013 when the CIA was forced to come clean through documents obtained in a public records request.
Conspiracy theories were reignited in 2017 when the US Pentagon confirmed the existence of a $22 million government program designed to analyse “anomalous aerospace threats”, which some people have interpreted as UFOs.
