McCormack started out as a journo in regional New South Wales, where he became the youngest ever editor of the Daily Advertiser in Wagga Wagga. During his time in the top job, McCormack wrote a newspaper editorial where he basically blamed homosexuality for AIDS. Some in the LGBTQI community are still understandably concerned that McCormack is now a heartbeat away from the Prime Ministers’ chair.
But he’s probably best known for his role as the guy who was in charge of the complete clusterf*ck that was the 2016 Census.
