Some days you get to read about cute puppies that save homeless people or a grandparent whose kids never turned up to dinner and the internet rallies.
Unfortunately, today is not that day.
Today we all get to collectively roll our eyes and log off because the people at 9/11 Redux are trying to crowd source money to recreate the events of September 11 in the hopes of working out whether it was a hoax or real (do yourself a favour, those hyperlinks are worth the price of admission).
9/11 Redux’s Paul Salo begins his pitch with, “Many people want to know more about 9-11.” Do they Paul? Do they really?
But as a gift to us, Salo digresses. “We are like a Mythbusters for September 11th. It's an important project for many reasons. Many people doubt various details of 9-11. As the world has changed our trust in government and media has declined significantly. We want to see for ourselves. We don't need people to guide our thinking. In this project we will recreate 9/11 to the best of our ability given the funds raised. Our ultimate goal is a fully loaded 767 and a similar structure to the WTC. We will crash the fully loaded (with fuel) plane (complete with black box) into the building using autopilot at 500 MPH.” Mhmmmmm.
“We are like a Mythbusters for September 11th."
Don't worry, for your donations, you’re getting peace of mind. “You can be a part of this! If you have ever wondered how, why or if, you don't need to anymore. We're going to do this and you'll be a big part!” Sure, why not?
So are you on Team JET FUEL CAN’T MELT STEAL BEAMS or not? Maybe you’ve got a lazy $1.5 mill that you don’t want to use for a deposit on a house in Sydney and would rather see internet weirdos fuck some shit up. Well, today is your lucky day.
Take a look for yourself if you want to watch a totally level headed, not insane pitch for this ridiculous project.
