The Feed reached out to Minister Price for an interview, which she declined. A spokesperson for the Environment Minister sent the following response:
Minister Price considers all media requests on a case-by-case basis. However like all candidates in this election, the Minister's priority is with her constituents, and campaigning to ensure the return of the Morrison Government. Minister Price's electorate is the largest in the country, covering a large number of rural and remote communities.
CSIRO were not required to approve Adani's groundwater management plans. Under the Act the Minister is required to determine if the plans satisfy the conditions of approval. In assessing Adani's groundwater management plans, the Government followed a rigorous process, with the Department of the Environment and Energy commissioning independent technical and scientific advice from Geoscience Australia and the CSIRO.
Adani made revisions to its plans based on issues raised and recommendations made by Geoscience Australia and the CSIRO. The Department of the Environment and Energy recommended the Minister approve Adani's plans. Geoscience Australia and the CSIRO provided further written advice that the revised plans addressed the issues raised in relation to the ground water management plans.
