'To remind me I’m on the side of the Australian people': Scott Morrison pins hope on flags

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has given each of his cabinet ministers an Australian flag pin to remind them of who they serve each day.

“I wear it to remind me every single day… I’m on the side of the Australian people”: Scott Morrison has given each of his cabinet minister an Australian pin.

Every day Scott Morrison pins an Australian flag to his suit jacket to remind himself of who he's serving.

Now all of his cabinet ministers can do the same after the prime minister gave his new team a pin each to wear.

"For each of you today, I gave you a lapel pin with the Australian flag on it," he told his ministers at their first cabinet meeting in Canberra on Tuesday.

"I've been wearing this now for many, many years. I can't remember when I started doing this.

"The reason I wear it is because it reminds me every single day whose side I'm on.

"I'm on the side of the Australian people, that's what I'm saying to myself, that's who I think about first."

Mr Morrison said he wanted his ministers to remember who they served.

"We're going to redefine what fairness means in the country, fairness means a fair go for those who have a go," he said.

"We're going to get electricity prices down.

"Now you're all standing with me, to create an even stronger Australia."
