Australia recognises Palestinian statehood in historic move

The Prime Minister has made a historic declaration that Australia has formally recognised the state of Palestine. The story broke in New York while the nation was sleeping, Anthony Albanese holding a press conference timed to coincide with statements of recognition from the UK and Canada. It comes ahead of a critical two-state solution meeting at the United Nations.
