Australia sending materiel and personnel to aid Gulf nations

In a major escalation of its involvement in the War in the Middle East, Australia will commit ADF personnel, weapons and a long range reconaissance aircraft to aid countries in the Gulf. The federal government says it will only contribute to defensive efforts and would not contemplate sending ground troops into Iran.
