The Government has abruptly abandoned its bid to host the COP Climate summit. The Prime Minister before departing for the G20, conceded Türkiye will oversee the next annual world environmental meeting. While Australia has negotiated control over the policy process, the failure to bring the event to Adelaide has drawn criticism from the Pacific and environmental activists.
