Ben Roberts-Smith granted bail after war crimes charges

War veteran Ben Roberts-Smith has been granted bail after spending more than a week in custody on war crimes charges. The prosecution opposed bail, warning he was a flight risk and there was a risk of witness tampering. The 47-year-old former SAS soldier was arrested on April 7 and charged with five counts of the war crime of murder, alleged to have occurred in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2012.
