Chess soars in popularity, female participation remains low

A renewed interest in chess, through popular series like The Queen’s Gambit and the recent documentary of chess player Judit Polgar, has again put a spotlight on the experiences of women in the game. But despite chess soaring in popularity, the number of females who play at an elite level remains low.
