Childcare subsidy expanded to three days, raising access and cost concerns

Parents using childcare are now guaranteed a subsidy for three-days a week, without completing an eligibility test. The government says more than 100,000 families will benefit from the new initiative. But critics point to the limited number of available pre-school places, with the potential of higher demand leading to a hike in childcare centre fees.
