Communities face extreme fire danger as an intense heatwave sweeps parts south-east Australia

Australia's south-east is sweltering through an extreme heatwave, with temperatures in some areas reaching new highs. The extreme heat is also exacerbating dangerous fire conditions. This afternoon, emergency warnings were issued for a grassfire burning just south of Lismore and another out-of-control bushfire burning in the Otways in Victoria's southwest.
