Congratulations and recriminations: Labor riding a red wave as the Coalition looks for who's to blame

With votes still being counted, there are still several tight races in a number of seats, with just a couple of hundred votes splitting candidates in some areas. Under a hundred votes split independent Zoe Daniel and Liberal candidate Tim Wilson; and the Greens Leader Adam Bandt could lose his seat of Melbourne, with Labor's Sarah Witty nearly 3,000 votes ahead with more than 60 per cent of the vote counted. While the Labor party may still pick up additional seats, the party already has an overwhelming mandate to lead. But prime minister Anthony Albanese has today warned the expectations of a bold additional policy agenda.
