Energy Security Board proposal to pay coal and gas during transition

Coal and gas-fired plants could be paid to ensure there is enough power in the system, under a new plan being devised for the energy market. The Energy Security Board has released a draft paper on plans to introduce what's known as a capacity mechanism, arguing that both existing and new generators should be able to participate in the scheme to ensure there is reliable power.
