Ex-NRL player alleges betting companies offered to supply illicit drugs

Free drugs, escorts, and flights to sporting events. The curtain has dropped on the extraordinary tactics some major betting companies used to incentivise gambling addicts to continue spending millions. The details were revealed in a Senate inquiry into proposed laws aimed at tightening rules on gambling advertisements. Former NRL player Luke Bateman told the inquiry that betting company staff offered to provide him illicit drugs when he was in the grips of a gambling addiction.
