Fireworks light up Australia as the country welcomes 2026

Overnight, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Australia's capital cities to be among some of the first in the world to see in the new year. Across the country spectators enjoyed some of the biggest fireworks displays to date, with police praising a largely incident-free night.
