Government and Coalition back tougher visa laws despite granting Iran footballers asylum

Australia could soon see a sweeping change of migration laws which would ban tens of thousands of approved temporary visa holders from arriving to the country. The bill was rushed to the lower house today in response to a possible influx of people from the Middle East seeking to seek safety here as the conflict there intensifies. That — despite granting asylum to a group of Iranian footballers. The Greens and refugee experts are now accusing the government of hypocrisy.
