A staffing crisis has consumed Indigenous legal services in Alice Springs. It has taken the extraordinary step of suspending services for new criminal matters until the end of the year. The jail in Alice Springs jail is stretched beyond its capacity. Legal representatives warn many could end up having to represent themselves in court and may face wrongful imprisonment.
