Japanese ambassador weighs in over 'melon' furore

The Japanese ambassador to Australia has issued a statement in response to a growing domestic furore over the melons Sanae Takaichi gifted the prime minister. Anthony Albanese joked about the royal fruit on a podcast. The Opposition originally demanded he apologise and has now referred a leaked cable to the Australian Federal Police.
