A Senate inquiry into taxing gas has heard that South East Asian nations are getting more value out of Australian gas than taxpayers here, with the government now facing increasing pressure to impose a flat tax on gas exports. Konrad Benjamin, a former teacher behind the social media account Punters Politics, was among those heard by the Greens-led inquiry today, saying Australians have been "sold out". The inquiry, which today also heard from environmentalists and economists, will tomorrow turn its attention to gas companies.
