Labor winds back budget tax hikes on capital gains

After a month of criticism, the federal government has made significant amendments to the capital gains tax changes it proposed in the May budget. The backdown affects small businesses, start-ups and testamentary trusts, the government will seek to make changes to its legislation with an aim of getting it through parliament within weeks.
