More than 500 workers to lose jobs at Whyalla steelworks

Hundreds of employees at South Australia's Whyalla steelworks are set to lose their jobs after the operation's ageing blast furnace repeatedly failed to fire. Located about 380 kilometres north of Adelaide, the decision to abandon further revival efforts will effectively shut down most of the manufacturing at one of Australia's two remaining steel facilities.
