National Cabinet halves fuel excise after mounting pressure to address petrol prices

Against the backdrop of attacks and escalating threats of ground operations in the Middle East, the volatile price of oil has again risen. And so too, the financial pressure being felt around Australia. In response, the government has moved to ease the pressure by cutting the tax on fuel in half. It's a three month measure, costing the budget billions of dollars.
