In a major milestone for Traditional Owners in Australia's Top End more than 700,000 hectares of land has been added to the national parks and reserves system. The new Indigenous Protected Area spanning across the Tiwi Islands is expected to not only help meet environmental commitments but also provide benefits to local communities through education and employment pathways.
