New Victoria Police stop and search powers challenged in Federal Court

New powers enabling Victoria Police to stop and search anyone in Melbourne's CBD, are facing a legal challenge in the Federal Court. The action filed by the Human Rights Law Centre came as police announced they would use similar powers to search people at a number of Melbourne shopping centres.
