Nhulunbuy fights for strong economic future as mine prepares for closure

One of the nation's most remote towns Nhulunbuy is fighting for long-term survival. Rio Tinto's bauxite mine in North East Arnhem Land is preparing to close before the end of the decade. Supermarket Woolworths is also considering pulling out as the population drops. The federal government says it's committed to work with Indigenous clans to ensure their future, as they build local economic and tourism ventures. And a warning: this story contains images of people who have died.
