Options for first time and early referendum voters

Now the referendum writs have been issued - if you’re a first-time voter you have until 8pm in your state on the 18th of September to enrol, or to update your details on the electoral role. The referendum will be on Saturday 14th October. It is compulsory to vote, and Australia’s electoral laws do not allow for online voting. But what happens if you can’t get to your local voting station?
