PM holds out hope for political compromise on religious freedom bill

The prime minister says he doesn't want a renewed debate over religious freedoms to reignite what he called 'the old culture wars' of division. The federal government has handed legislation directly to the opposition in confidence, as it seeks to resolve the long-held policy impasse.
