Pressure mounts for Government to introduce gas export tax

The federal resources minister has issued a formal threat to limit gas exports to make more supply available for Australia's east coast. Pressure is heating up on the government to introduce a 25 per cent tax on gas exports, as global prices spike. The argument in favour for the tax has ratcheted up this week. Members of the crossbench as well as Labor and Liberal backbenchers, showing a willingness for reform.
