Qantas faces $121 million penalty for illegal outsourcing of ground staff

A compensation hearing is underway in the Federal Court for what unions are calling the biggest illegal sacking in Australian corporate history. The Transport Workers Union is calling for a maximum penalty of $121 million to be imposed against Qantas for illegally outsourcing 1,800 ground workers in 2020. This is in addition to the $120 million already being administered to those impacted employees.
