Review recommends massive fines and mandatory code for supermarkets

Coles and Woolworths could face fines of up to $4 billion for breaches of the food and grocery Code of Conduct under recommendations of an interim report into supermarkets, led by former Labor MP Craig Emerson. The review has agreed with the government, that forcing the major supermarkets to sell off stores would not drive down prices. The Coalition has called the report a sham.
