Safeguard Mechanism debate continues

There have been talks between the government and the Greens over Labor's proposed revamp of the safeguard mechanism to reduce carbon emissions. But a key sticking point continues to thwart debate. The Greens want a ban on new coal and gas projects. Labor says it won't budge on this, insisting gas will remain a feature of the renewable energy transition.
