SBS50: Looking back at Operation Babylift, Vietnam's mass evacuation of children and babies to Australia

Published
This month will mark 50 years since the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War. It was also the beginning of one of Australia's most significant post-war migrations. To service the nation's growing migrant communities, SBS started broadcasting in-language radio programs in the same year; 1975. At the same time an extraordinary rescue operation was taking place — the evacuation of babies and children from Vietnamese orphanages who were brought to Australia in "Operation Babylift". This story produced in collaboration with SBS Vietnamese.
