Scam numbers are down but the cost to victims is rising

The number of reported scams has fallen this year - but those scams are robbing victims of more money. The National Anti-Scam Centre says the ACCC's Scamwatch unit received 108,000 reports of scams in the first six months of this year - down 24 per cent. But their value has increased by 26 per cent with disadvantaged groups often targeted.
