Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announces shock resignation

Nicola Sturgeon has announced she will stand down as Scotland's leader after more than eight years in the role. Sturgeon is the longest serving - and first female - First Minister and believes resigning is the best move for herself, her party and for Scotland. She plans to remain in office until a successor is elected.
