Sydney-based Islamic preacher sued for alleged antisemitism

The Federal Court is examining whether a fringe Islamic preacher’s sermons about Jewish people breached Australia’s anti-discrimination laws. The case was brought by the Executive Council of Australian Jewry. Wissam Haddad’s legal team will argue his remarks fall under free speech, made in a political and religious context as part of broader criticism of Israel’s war in Gaza.
