Torres Strait Islands representatives have come together on Masig Island, to sign a joint statement on their wish to regain more autonomy over their own affairs. The Statement from the Deep is designed to complement The Statement from the Heart, ahead of a referendum on Indigenous recognition in the Constitution. A warning to First Nations people, this story contains images of people who have died.
