Tourism boost as visas restart for Chinese tour groups

Before the covid pandemic, China was Australia's biggest source of tourism income, with holiday-makers injecting around 2-point-1 billion dollars into the economy in 2019. In July of that year, there were more than 150 thousand visitors from China. While it's been slow to recover, that number has now passed 50 per cent of pre-pandemic levels for the first time, at more than 79 thousand.
