Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are warned that the following story contains images of someone who has passed away. Traditional Owners and activists have gathered at Pine Gap in the Northern Territory, demanding the joint US-Australian defence facility be shut down. Protesters have also called for the land to be handed back to the local Arrernte Traditional Owners. Elders say they feel guilty about its use to possibly supply intelligence for overseas wars. It's almost 60 years since the facility opened, 18 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs. The Defence Department has told SBS the Government does not comment on intelligence matters or the operation of its joint facilities.
